Lotus Lake Buddhist Center is comprised of two main facilities: Doonkar House and Norbu House.

Doonkar House

Doonkar Retreat House is located on 65 acres of pastoral Wisconsin countryside, a stones throw from our Norbu House facility. The 4,700 square foot Doonkar House (Tibetan for “White Conch”) provides accommodations for 22 persons and features a spacious dining room with a covered porch nestled against the Meditation Grove pine forest and tenting area.

Meditation Grove and Jetavana Grove are designated tenting areas under a mature pine canopy. Both sections are a short walk from the main building and shower facilities. People who choose to tent are strongly discouraged from bringing food items as we do have wildlife on the property.

Norbu House

The Tibetan translation of Norbu is “flaming jewel”. With an abundance of dazzling sunsets, Norbu House lives up to its billing! Constructed throughout the winter of 2010/11, this facility has three single rooms for our monastic residents and two double rooms available for accommodations.

Chenrezig Room is double room situated on the upper level with views to the east and west overlooking the pond and Meditation Grove.

The Wish Granting Tree is a loft space on the upper level which can accommodate double occupancy. The highest point in the house, the Wish Granting Tree affords beautiful sunrise views over the adjacent fields.

Private Rooms

We have lodging at Doonkar House for approximately 22 people.  We maintain one single room with private bath,  depending on need or availability.  Other rooms have two twin beds, which can be either double or single use, depending on availability.  All rooms have quick access to our 4 restrooms and bathing facilities as well as a laundry station.  A shared guest kitchen is nearby for any special dietary needs.
